In this studio, we studied a series of new housing models that look into socio-economic trends of new modalities of living, influenced by new technologies, a sustainable consciousness, and the need for community development, which altogether produced a housing typology (live/work/farm) re-designed to adapt to the needs of the (near) future. The project takes place in the neighborhood of Al Suyoh in Sharjah where a series of middle-class residential units are developed. The residential unit is composed of stacked shipping containers in a lot, and the goal was to create a dwelling that is sustainable and self-sufficient, incorporating emerging technologies and materials, appropriate for desert living.
