Martian Life Research Mission & Sustenance
Professor Camilo Cerro
The approach to this interplanetary migration was to create a mission dedicated to Martian life research, focusing primarily on finding life on mars and aiming to achieve self-sufficiency for an independent and sustainable Mars base.
The project employs a logic of prefabricated, modular parts suitable for space transportation and assembly on site. The base hybridizes different elements and creates an interconnected network which ties back to a main linear core. The design process works from the inside out, letting decisions about interiority inform the exterior skin. Interior atmospheric qualities are endowed with playfulness and include grand open spaces as well as cozy intimate one, addressing the psychological tolls of living on Mars, hence the base’s eclectic and varied languages.
